Virginia Scholastic Chess Association

VSCA Board of Directors Election

January 4, 2017

The Virginia Scholastic Chess Association will hold its annual election for the nine Board of Directors positions online from Tuesday, January 17 through Sunday, January 29, 2017.

You are eligible to vote in the election for VSCA Board of Directors if you are the parent or guardian of a scholastic player who has participated in at least one VSCA tournament in the past year, or an individual age 16 or older who has done significant volunteer work for the VSCA, such as assisting with directing or organizing tournaments, or serving as an Officer or Director, in the past year.

The VSCA is a non-profit corporation with nine Directors who are elected or re-elected for one-year terms by the voting members. Since the footprint of our organization now spans the area from Charlottesville to Virginia Beach, the election is conducted online, rather than requiring members to attend a specific tournament.

We are now accepting nominations and volunteers for all nine Board of Directors positions, including current Directors as well as any other members who are interested in serving on the Board. If you would like to place your name on the ballot, please email news@vschess.org by Sunday, January 15, and provide your name and a brief statement (150 words or less, plus an optional picture) for our website. Your statement should tell voters a little about yourself and why you are interested in serving as a Director. You may nominate someone else, with his/her permission, but we will also need a statement directly from the candidate. The candidate statements, along with instructions for voting, will be posted on our website by Tuesday, January 17.
