Tournament Entry Fees (Applies to All Players):

Advance (Online) Registration

Must be completed online by 9:00 pm on Wednesday prior to the tournament. Due to the large size of our tournaments email and snail mail registrations are no longer accepted.

Walk-in Registration

Onsite from 8:00–9:00 am (please note: players who register onsite will be paired to play in rounds 2–5 only).

United States Chess Federation (USCF) Membership Dues

Entry fees above do not include USCF membership dues. Membership in the USCF is required for participation in a VSCA tournament and should be obtained directly from the USCF prior to the tournament, as described below.

Effective January 1, 2003, the VSCA no longer waives Entry Fees for new USCF members who join the USCF onsite and all players are requested to obtain USCF memberships and renewals directly from the USCF website prior to their first tournament.

Players who renew or join the USCF using phone or mail will have to wait for their membership card to arrive by mail (which can take as long as 4 weeks). To join or renew your USCF membership, please use the links below. Note: Applying for USCF membership by mail or phone will not provide immediate proof of membership. If you are a USCF member but have never participated in a VSCA tournament, you must bring proof of your current USCF member status.

Current USCF members should bring USCF membership card or magazine label from their Chess Life or Chess Life for Kids subscription. New USCF members: Please use the USCF’s online membership application form which will provide a confirmation of membership which should be printed and brought to the tournament.

Renewing USCF members please renew USCF membership online which will provide a confirmation of membership which should be printed and brought to the tournament.

Payment Information

Upon completing the online registration form, each player will receive both an online confirmation and an email confirmation of their registration along with instructions for payment of entry fees. Entry fees paid by mail must be received by Wednesday prior to the tournament. Players chosing to pay entry fees by mail may by-pass the check-in process and arrive onsite by 9am to answer the roll call scheduled for 9:15 am.
